Chapter 20: Self-act

The firewood in the fireplace crackled with flames, and while the weather was cool now, it wasn't cold enough to require heating from a fireplace.

Everything was for this Pokémon Egg, which still held a faint spark of life.

The fireplace in this small house hadn't been used for a long time; it was covered in black marks and filled with an unknown amount of old ash.

To make use of the fireplace, Luo Mu first had Dragonite control the airflow to sweep the ash outdoors onto the soil, which was good fertilizer.

Then, he had Swampert use a minimal Water Gun to clean the fireplace, and after Ceruledge quickly evaporated the remaining moisture with its Flame Blade, the old but usable fireplace was cleaned.

After Luxray, Mimikyu, and Serperior gathered firewood and lit it in the fireplace, the temperature in the house instantly rose.

Then, gathered around this Pokémon Egg, Luo Mu and his six Pokémon began a discussion.

The topic was: How to successfully bring the Pokémon inside the Egg into this world.

Luo Mu told the Pokémon the Egg's past experiences in full, and each Pokémon had a different reaction.

Serperior's subtle jealousy towards the Egg completely vanished; she just felt that this unborn Pokémon was very pitiful.

Mimikyu and Ceruledge silently distanced themselves from the Egg; they knew very well that as Ghost-type Pokémon, especially powerful ones like them, their mere presence could unconsciously affect this Egg, hindering its hatching, or even turning it into a dead Egg.

Swampert didn't feel much, but he was willing to contribute to the hatching of this Pokémon Egg.

As long as there was something he needed to do, he would do it without a second thought!

A hint of sympathy, and even more empathy, appeared on Dragonite's honest and cute face.

Not long ago, he was also a Pokémon born from an Egg, and he still remembered the feeling of security within the Egg, yet occasionally experiencing a sense of narrowness, darkness, and oppression.

He successfully left the Egg when it was time, but how much time had passed for the Pokémon in this Egg, how long had it been trapped in the dark shell?

“Meow!”

Luxray's deep voice sounded, telling Luo Mu that if there was anything they needed to do, he should just ask.

Luo Mu pondered for a moment, then said, “On the way back, I also considered how to hatch this Pokémon Egg.”

“This is a Pokémon Egg that hasn't hatched for an unknown number of years; the mere fact that the Pokémon inside is still alive is already a miracle, so we must do our best to help it hatch as quickly as possible.”

“First, Dragonite.” Luo Mu looked at Dragonite, who instantly tensed up, eyes wide, seemingly showing his determination. Luo Mu pleaded, “Do you remember the nutrient solution when you first hatched? Although normal Pokémon Eggs don’t need nutrient solution, the situation with this Egg is different. It’s been trapped inside for too long, and severe nutritional deficiency is probably one of the reasons it can’t Shell Smash.”

“You can’t buy good quality nutrient solution in Pingdie Town. I want you to fly to Luminose City as soon as possible. There’s the largest shopping mall in the Paldea region there. I will contact my friend then, and she will take you to buy the nutrient solution.”

“Bo Wu!”

Dragonite stood straight, saluting while expressing his determination.

Luo Mu then looked at the other Pokémon, detailing his arrangements one by one.

Ceruledge, Mimikyu, and Luxray were to go into the wild to find wild Pokémon with the Flame Body Ability and invite them to the farm.

If possible, they should try to find some powerful ones.

Pokémon with this Ability maintain a very suitable body temperature, which can accelerate the hatching progress of Pokémon Eggs.

Pokémon like Talonflame, Magcargo, Rapidash, Volcarona, and even Moltres and Heatran, all possess the Flame Body Ability.

As for Serperior and Swampert, they would stay at the farm with him to guard the house, protect the Pokémon Egg, and continue farming!

With Luo Mu's knowledge, these were the only methods he could think of, and Miss Joy had probably already thought of and tried these operations.

His only advantage was his decent strength; perhaps Miss Joy had only found newly evolved Pokémon with Flame Body, so he would have Luxray and the others search for stronger ones.

Although nutrient solution was expensive, with his current savings, he could still afford it.

He had arranged everything he could; now, it was up to the little one in the Pokémon Egg.

If these methods couldn't bring it into the world, then perhaps only a Legendary Pokémon would be able to save this Egg.

Early the next morning, Dragonite, carrying the large box Luo Mu had prepared for him, slowly took off, guided by the direction in his memory towards Luminose City.

After Luxray warned Serperior and Swampert to guard the house well, he led Ceruledge and the Mimikyu, whom he had accidentally overlooked again, towards the wild to search for Pokémon with the Flame Body Ability.

As for Luo Mu, he was fully equipped early in the morning, wearing a straw hat identical to Peter's, and under the rare clear sky, he led Serperior, Swampert, and the Pokémon Egg, which was already placed in a constant-temperature incubator in his hand, to the Farming Area.

The weeds that had been uprooted here were swept up by Dragonite with a storm yesterday and neatly piled not far away.

After consulting Peter on some basic knowledge, as long as the soil's looseness met the standard, seeds could be sown at any time.

Taking out six bags of seeds and glancing at the ash collected by Dragonite nearby, Luo Mu pondered for a moment and chose to first try planting potatoes, which could even grow in Siberia.

Generally, the germination rate of potato seeds is very low, and most people use their tubers for propagation, but it's different in the world of Pokémon.

The difficulty of growing ordinary crops is very low, and the yield will also increase, and today, he was accompanied by Serperior and Swampert.

The planting methods for crops are basically highly similar, merely involving digging holes, burying seeds, fertilizing, watering, and so on, with slight variations in steps and details for different crops.

Although the operation was simple, Luo Mu worked bent over with a hoe all morning, and with the help of Serperior and Swampert, he barely managed to plant a small bag of seeds, applied the collected old ash as fertilizer, and then had Swampert, looking annoyed, water them with the weakest Water Gun move.

After all this, Luo Mu, whose back was aching and who was sweating profusely from the work, looked at Serperior with anticipation.

Serperior sighed as if resigned to fate, extended a verdant vine into the pit, and subtly transferred its Grass-type energy and nutrients to the potato seeds just planted inside.

Serperior retracted her vine, and Luo Mu's gaze fell into the pit, waiting for a long time without seeing any reaction.

Luo Mu's expression was strange; this shouldn't be happening.

Peter had told him that at Jones Farm, Grass-type Pokémon would also supply Grass-type energy and some nutrients from their bodies to crops, which would result in vegetables and fruits that were not only large but also very delicious.

Why, when it came to Swampert and Serperior, did the seeds show no reaction at all?
