Chapter 7: Coby, a person born with super powers!

“Of course, I’ve tried it!” Dr. Mei Mu proudly lifted his head. “I should still have some talent; I can feel my Psychic power improving.”

“Ever since I started practicing the Psychic Meditation method, after a hard day of translation work, I only need to sleep once, and I always wake up refreshed the next day.”

Kebi’s mouth twitched. “I wanted to ask, Doctor, have you mastered Psychic abilities like Confusion or Illusion?”

Dr. Mei Mu shrugged.

“Not yet, but I plan to keep practicing. There will be that day eventually.”

Isn’t that just a lack of talent!

Why are you acting so smug?

“The book says it’s best to prepare an incense that helps with concentration during meditation. Did you make it?”

Dr. Mei Mu took out a small censer and a sealed bag of powder from the cabinet.

Kebi opened the bag and sniffed; the powder had a strange fragrance.

But he felt something was off.

He looked at the incense recipe again.

“It’s wrong, Doctor. The incense you prepared has a problem.”

Dr. Mei Mu was startled for a moment. “What’s wrong with it? I’ve been using it for over a year, and it’s always been fine?”

“The proportions are wrong. You added too little Moonfront Grass, too much Speckled Starflower, and the Purple Crystal Sand isn’t ground finely enough. This incense can at most only achieve half its effect.”

Dr. Mei Mu’s eyes widened. “You just smelled it and looked at it, and you found that the incense I prepared was wrong?”

Kebi shrugged, smiling confidently. He had great confidence in his nose.

“As a chef for many years, I still have this skill. Do you have any raw materials here? I’ll readjust it.”

The materials are quite expensive; it’s not realistic to prepare a new batch.

“Yes, I was worried I wouldn’t prepare it well, so I bought some extra. I didn’t expect to succeed on the first try. I’ll get it for you now.”

Kebi rolled his eyes at him. It seemed the Doctor wasn’t entirely talentless; perhaps his talent wasn’t fully realized because he was held back by the defective incense.

“Doctor, just like cooking, ‘edible’ and ‘delicious’ are two different concepts.”

Kebi took out the tools he carried with him, first sifting out the Purple Crystal Sand and regrinding it to the standard fineness.

Once the Doctor brought the materials, he took some of everything except the Speckled Starflower, ground them into powder, and thoroughly mixed them with Dr. Mei Mu’s original batch.

Kebi took a small portion, put it into the censer, and lit it.

A faint aroma spread through the room.

The Doctor took a deep breath and immediately felt his spirits lift.

He tried meditating to train his Psychic power and found that the effect had indeed improved significantly.

“After your improvement, the effect is indeed at least twice as good.”

After the incense in the censer burned out, he cleaned the ashes, added the amount needed for one meditation session, and lit it.

Kebi sat cross-legged and, following the method in the ancient texts, began his first Psychic cultivation in his life.

Dr. Mei Mu took a portion and went to the next room to sit and meditate as well.

The first meditation mainly serves to activate the innate Psychic power one possesses.

Through this meditation, one can essentially determine a person’s Psychic talent.

Of course, a large quantity doesn’t necessarily mean good control.

Without control, one can only be a telekinetic for life.

Forget about high-difficulty Psychic abilities like Teleport, Future Sight, or turning people into dolls.

After Kebi began meditating, he discovered that his Psychic power was incredibly vast.

Perhaps this was the talent brought by a transmigrator, a soul from another world.

As the incense burned out, Kebi successfully activated all the Psychic power he possessed.

He even had enough energy left to try training and developing his Psychic power.

He felt that just in those last few minutes, the Psychic power gained from training and development, when converted into Confusion, seemed capable of plucking a single leaf.

Coincidentally, there was a potted plant in the corner of the institute.

Kebi looked at the potted plant, blue light emanating from his eyes, extending his Psychic power to cover the plant’s leaves.

Using all the Psychic power he had just trained to convert into Confusion, he gently tugged at a leaf.

As the potted plant swayed, the leaf detached from the branch and danced up and down in the air.

Dr. Mei Mu had just finished his meditation and returned, intending to ask Kebi how things were.

“This…”

Seeing the leaf dancing in the air and the light in Kebi’s eyes, he opened his mouth wide and pointed at Kebi, unable to utter a single word.

“You…”

Kebi activated all his Psychic power, converting it into Confusion to try and lift himself up.

Although still a bit wobbly, the cross-legged Kebi slowly lifted off the ground.

Kebi is currently 16 years old, one meter seventy, and sixty-five kilograms.

He felt that sixty-five kilograms was not the limit of his Confusion lifting capacity.

Kebi got excited and fell from the air.

How could he not be excited? With Psychic abilities, many crises encountered during his journey would no longer be crises.

Dr. Mei Mu finally recovered.

“You are simply a born Psychic!”

Kebi comforted him:

“Don’t worry, I can sense that your total Psychic power is not low, Doctor. You just haven’t mastered the method of converting it into Confusion.”

Someone who can become a Doctor can’t possibly be unintelligent.

Confusion isn’t of much use to Dr. Mei Mu; what he needs is a clear mind after strengthening his Psychic power, which makes it easier for him to conduct research.

After all the commotion, it was getting late.

Dr. Mei Mu treated them to dinner at the Pokémon Center.

They checked out of Kebi’s room; the institute had empty rooms, and they were single rooms.

They returned to continue researching the rituals and tools recorded in the ancient texts, as well as the correct methods for their creation and use.

Kebi wanted to understand the application of this knowledge to Pokémon.

Dr. Mei Mu wanted to know what impact this knowledge had on the development and growth of this ancient civilization.

Dr. Mei Mu was knowledgeable and, based on the effects of the materials, listed substitutes for extinct and prohibited materials, as well as the difference in efficacy between the substitutes and the originals.

Kebi, in turn, deduced entirely new formulas based on the effects of the substitutes.

Looking at the time, Kebi said:

“Let’s stop here for today. I’m going out to train my Pokémon. Tomorrow, we should get up early to catch Relicanth.”

Dr. Mei Mu nodded repeatedly. “Right, right, right, I almost forgot about the main business.”

Leaving the institute, Kebi released Piplup and Chimchar.

He took out a hemp rope and wrapped it around a thick tree.

“Piplup, use Pound. Chimchar, use Scratch. Then Piplup, use Water Gun. Chimchar, use Flame Wheel. Piplup, use Bubble Beam. Chimchar, use Fire Punch.”

“Use these five moves in this order… no, five times.”

Today was just basic skill training. Kebi originally wanted them to use twenty times, but then he changed it to five times.

Twenty times would be pushing Piplup and Chimchar to their limits.

Constantly challenging limits can easily injure the body and leave hidden wounds.

His wallet couldn’t handle the supplements needed for continuous extreme training.

Without rare treasures, daily extreme training would be overdrawing the Pokémon’s bodies and lifespans.

After five uses of the moves, the hemp rope became tattered and lost its recycling value.

Just leave it here; they’ll train again tomorrow morning.

He used his Psychic power to examine Piplup and Chimchar’s bodies, massaged their stiff areas, and, as usual, gave them their extra meal before recalling them into their Poké Balls to rest.

“You all did very well. Rest well.”

Kebi remembered that there was a Psychic-type move called Heal Pulse.

If he could learn it, he could use it on his Pokémon after each training session, coupled with sufficient nutrition, and he wouldn’t have to worry about them getting hidden injuries.

How about tomorrow, he asks Joy’s Chansey if she knows Heal Pulse, and learns from Chansey?
