The next morning, Kebi woke up early and, with Piplup and Chimchar, completed ten skill usages, tearing up the ropes and leaving marks on the poor big tree.
Then he dragged Dr. Mei Mu to the Pokémon Center for breakfast.
After eating, he immediately asked Joy the question.
Joy nodded, “Of course, Heal Pulse is one of the essential skills for Chansey to become a Pokémon nurse.”
“Mr. Kebi, are you hoping Chansey will teach your Pokémon to learn Heal Pulse?”
Kebi shook his head and said, “No, I want to learn Heal Pulse. I wonder if I can ask Chansey to demonstrate it for me.”
“You!?” Joy was startled. “A human learning Pokémon skills… I’ve never encountered such a thing.”
Dr. Mei Mu waved his hand and said:
“Joy, just let Chansey teach him. This kid is a natural Psychic, so he might actually learn it.”
A natural Psychic? Joy’s eyes lit up. It was her first time meeting a true Psychic.
No wonder Kebi would propose wanting to learn Heal Pulse.
“Alright, but whether you can learn it depends on Mr. Kebi’s talent. After all, humans and Pokémon don’t speak the same language, so Mr. Kebi can only observe Chansey using Heal Pulse and comprehend it on his own.”
Dr. Mei Mu stroked his chin, “According to the ancient ruins I’ve excavated, the Psychic abilities possessed by ancient Psychics mostly came from natural bestowal or learning from Pokémon.”
“I have high hopes for Kebi. This might replicate the cultivation process of ancient priests. This is an excellent topic, and my new paper has a goal.”
“Kebi, you must join my team!”
Looking at Dr. Mei Mu, Joy shook her head.
“Alright, it just so happens there are no treatment tasks today. I’ll ask Chansey, and if she’s willing, we’ll go to the training ground now.”
Chansey is a Pokémon that loves Helping Hand, so when Joy spoke, she naturally agreed directly.
The three people and one Chansey arrived at the training ground. Kebi released Piplup and Chimchar as teaching aids to facilitate Chansey’s demonstration.
He also took the opportunity to gain some advantage.
Chansey aimed her hands at Piplup, and a colorful wave continuously enveloped Piplup’s body from Chansey’s hands.
Kebi mobilized all his mental power, carefully sensing the changes in the power within Chansey’s body, the form of the wave’s power, and the effect produced when Heal Pulse acted upon Piplup.
Piplup happily squinted his eyes. After being enveloped by Heal Pulse, he felt warm all over, even more comfortable than soaking in a hot spring.
Chansey finished Heal Pulse, and everyone looked at Kebi with curiosity.
Dr. Mei Mu looked at him expectantly, “How is it? Did you learn it?”
Kebi rubbed his temples, “I only have some understanding of Heal Pulse. There’s still a long way to go before I can learn it.”
Saying that, Kebi stretched out his finger and aimed at Chimchar, his eyes emitting blue light. A faint, colorful wave extended from his finger, but it dissipated after only a few centimeters.
Joy commented:
“The light is very dim, and the execution failed. It’s still a long way from practical application, but the principle has been learned. The rest only requires practice.”
Joy’s gaze was somewhat complex. Being assigned to a small place like Guchen Town, her initial performance was actually in the upper-middle range.
Learning it after just one look, even a TM isn’t that fast.
This Kebi, although she didn’t know why he only started his journey at sixteen.
But Joy knew that another genius who would amaze the world was about to appear among commoners.
The always neutral Joy Family was very happy to give some small Helping Hand to a genius.
She would immediately pass Kebi’s news to her Sisters in Hoenn and Sinnoh.
Dr. Mei Mu glared at Kebi.
“What long way? You just learned it after one look!”
Chimchar hopped and chirped excitedly.
Piplup got to enjoy it, what about me?
Chansey stroked Chimchar’s head to comfort him, then released Heal Pulse, allowing Chimchar to also enjoy the warmth.
Kebi just smiled at the doctor.
“Now that Heal Pulse is learned, let’s go catch Relicanth. The sooner we catch four, the sooner we can start the research.”
Mentioning Relicanth and research, Dr. Mei Mu instantly became energetic.
“Let’s go!”
The place where they would catch Relicanth was the same place Dr. Mei Mu and Ash went to previously.
This ruin had no value to Team Magma, so the key was directly left to Dr. Mei Mu.
Opening the gate of the ruin, Dr. Mei Mu introduced the history of the Guchen Ruin to Kebi.
“After Team Magma left, I researched the ruin and discovered that below this ruin, there is actually another ruin.”
“However, the ruin’s gate requires four Relicanth to use Ancient Power at a specific time to inject into the gate to open it. I have a hunch that the real good stuff is in that ruin.”
“Perhaps it’s related to the legend of the continent’s creation that Team Magma was pursuing.”
Kebi’s expression was a little strange:
“Are you sure an ancient civilization that cultivated Relicanth is related to the legend of creating land? Shouldn’t it be the legend of creating the ocean?”
Dr. Mei Mu was stunned for a moment, suddenly feeling that what Kebi said seemed to be correct.
“Then why was Team Magma pursuing this?”
“Perhaps to curb their opponents. Anyway, it doesn’t have much to do with us.”
Kebi smiled and shook his head. He only knew that in the end, Team Magma caught Kyogre, and Team Aqua caught Groudon.
Tough to handle~
Going down the stairs, what came into view was an underground pool, and the salty smell of the sea.
The gray big fish occasionally swimming in the pool were the Relicanth that Dr. Mei Mu wanted.
“Alright, now it’s up to you.”
Kebi nodded, took out a fishing rod, an inflatable pool, an air pump, a plastic bucket, and Piplup’s Pokémon food from his backpack.
He skillfully inflated the pool and filled it with water, and a temporary fish pond was ready.
Grabbing a handful of Pokémon food and scattering it into the pool, and putting a fake lure on the fishing rod, Kebi instantly transformed into a fishing enthusiast.
With the assistance of the Pokémon food, the fishing rod moved in less than five minutes.
Pulling it up, what came into view was a red Magikarp.
Kebi flicked the rod, and the Magikarp was thrown into the fish pond.
He wasn’t keeping it; it was just to prevent this Magikarp from biting the bait again.
Casting the rod into the water, after about another five minutes, the fishing rod moved again.
This time, what he pulled up was a Relicanth.
When the Relicanth fell into the fish pond, it changed its leisurely demeanor from the underground pool and violently slapped the Magikarp out of the fish pond with its tail.
Dr. Mei Mu shrugged, “Relicanth are just like that. Otherwise, I wouldn’t need to ask a Trainer for Helping Hand.”
Just as the Relicanth was about to jump from the fish pond back into the underground pool, Kebi scattered a handful of Pokémon food into it.
Smelling the food, the Relicanth obediently stayed in the fish pond and began to eat.
“It only takes a handful of Pokémon food to make Relicanth calm down?”
Facing Dr. Mei Mu’s surprise, Kebi said as a matter of course:
“Of course! Staying in this underground pool year-round, what good things could Relicanth have eaten?”
Dr. Mei Mu clicked his tongue in wonder, “You’re even an excellent Breeder!”
