Chapter 1: Strange Cocoon

“The plot is self-conceived.”

“There might be some world-building inconsistencies. If you find any errors, please let me know so I can correct them.”

“Also, many of the Trainers in this are self-conceived.”

“Brain storage…”

…………

………………

In a region that belongs to no country, the trees here are black, obscuring the sky and blocking out the sunlight, making it a paradise for Dark-type and Ghost-type Pokémon.

Few people know about this place, as most are scared away by the “hauntings” nearby, but today, a young man entered this Dark Forest.

It had been one month since this young man entered the Pokémon world. He originally thought he would get a golden finger, become a Champion, and enjoy the pinnacle of life, but…

He was actually no different from an ordinary person. He had nothing. When he first arrived, he found he didn’t even have a home. After all, he had transmigrated, but the fact that his information was here surprised him greatly.

In his previous world, he was a double Champion in a sword forging competition and a swordsmanship competition, and he was only 20 years old, an absolute genius.

Upon arriving here, he found that he was four years younger, now 16 years old. When he first arrived, he found only one Poké Ball and a little money in his pocket.

Then the money ran out, leaving only this “egg.”

“Hmph…”

Having been hungry for several days, he used his last money to buy a piece of iron. After processing and polishing it himself, he turned it into a tang katana. Finally, he slowly walked into the forest with the tang katana on his back.

Since he couldn’t survive in the city, he could only live in the forest.

“Hmm… I’ve been here for so long, if that sword forging boss hadn’t reminded me, I would have forgotten about the name thing.”

“I definitely can’t use my old one. I’ll just pick a random one.”

The young man particularly liked Dark-type and Ghost-type Pokémon. After thinking for a while, he decided…

“Gui Ling? It’s both imposing and sounds like a villain. Not bad, not bad.”

Little did he know that the name Gui Ling would later be mocked by others…

Gui Ling’s target this time was Gastly. He had always loved Gengar before, so he decided to catch these two individuals.

What? You ask how he’s going to catch them? By his own strength, of course.

“I don’t have any Pokémon right now, so I can only rely on this sword in my hand.”

Unconsciously, Gui Ling had walked for a long time. Along the way, although there were Ghost-type Pokémon that showed signs of attacking, they were all relatively weak ones that he could scare away with a couple of swings of his sword.

Since Gui Ling’s goal was very clear, he only had Gengar in his eyes; he didn’t look at anything else.

“Grimer? Not this one.”

………………

“So weak, yet you dare to attack me? But this also proves that Dark-type Pokémon are definitely not pushovers.”

………………

“Nuzleaf? Go away, go away!”

………………

“Oh my… This is only the outer area, and you’re telling me there’s a Drapion?! Can’t beat it, can’t beat it, gotta run!”

………………

“There’s even Malamar? It seems the further I go in, the stronger the Pokémon get!”

………………

“Mismagius? Can’t see me, can’t see me…”

………………

“Don’t chase! Don’t chase! Don’t chase!”

Gui Ling was being relentlessly chased by a Dusknoir. He tried to slash with his sword many times, but the opponent was flying in the air and constantly blasting him with Shadow Sneak. Only a fool wouldn’t run.

After running for who knows how long, Gui Ling reached a riverbank. He couldn’t stand being chased anymore, so he leaped into the river. Only after the Dusknoir flew away did he climb out to catch his breath.

“I’m so mad… I’ve seen all sorts of Dark-type and Ghost-type Pokémon… but no Gengar…”

Gui Ling tidied himself up and was about to resume his search when he was surprised to find his Poké Ball suddenly missing.

“No… Don’t tell me, I only have this one!”

Subsequently, Gui Ling’s search for Gengar turned into a search for his Poké Ball. During this time, he even saw a Gengar, but without a Poké Ball, he could only decisively give up, which made the sword in his hand hum with rage.

Returning the way he came yielded no results. Gui Ling, looking utterly dejected, sat back down by the river, angrily sticking his sword into the ground, closing his eyes, and simply refusing to think about these things anymore.

But then a thought suddenly struck him: did his Poké Ball fall into the water?

As soon as this possibility came to mind, Gui Ling immediately leaped into the river. After searching for nearly 15 minutes, he indeed found a Poké Ball.

“Whoa! Finally found it… Now then! Let’s rest for a bit…”

He was already in this dangerous environment, and not conserving his stamina would lead to big losses. He originally intended to just rest his eyes for a while, but Gui Ling, being bold, directly fell asleep. What was strange, however, was that no Pokémon seemed to want to approach this riverbank.

………………

“Ah! That was a good sleep!”

Gui Ling stretched, picked up his tang katana and Poké Ball, and walked back into the jungle.

“First, let’s take care of my hunger…”

Gui Ling used his tang katana to cut some firewood, then chose a flexible stick to use as a fishing rod, took out the pre-prepared fishing line, and started fishing.

“It’s going quite smoothly. There aren’t any Pokémon in here, just some ordinary fish.”

No sooner had he spoken than Gui Ling saw a Gyarados’s head emerge in the distance, which immediately scared the young man stiff.

“Is my mouth blessed today?”

After a while, Gui Ling had caught at least 20 fish. Luckily, that Gyarados didn’t come over; it just watched for a bit and then left.

This also made Gui Ling notice something was off. Dark-type Pokémon usually attack humans on sight, so why hadn’t he been attacked since he arrived here?

“Who cares, let’s eat fish first.”

Gui Ling casually weighed the Poké Ball, then picked up a roasted fish and started gnawing on it. However, the Poké Ball accidentally slipped from his hand and fell to the ground.

Just as Gui Ling was about to pick it up, the Poké Ball suddenly opened, bursting forth with a blue light, and then a giant cocoon appeared.

“My goodness?!”

Gui Ling immediately picked up his tang katana to examine it. The cocoon in front of him was at least dozens of meters tall, predominantly black and red in color. This was just the cocoon, and it was already so big; how enormous would its true form be when revealed?

“Wait, this seems to have come out of my Poké Ball?”

Gui Ling examined the cocoon in front of him and poked it with the blunt side of his tang katana, finding no movement, which made him even more disappointed.

“Something I’ve never seen before, but since it can be caught, it must be a Pokémon, but it seems useless…”

Gui Ling sat back down by the campfire. He only had this one Poké Ball! And he had caught some kind of unknown cocoon.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got, continuously biting the fish to vent his frustration. However, he suddenly felt the cocoon seemed to move.

“What? Want some?”

“…”

“Forget it, no matter what, I caught you. Here.”

Gui Ling offered the fish to the cocoon. The next second, a red head, similar to an eagle’s, slowly emerged from the cocoon, snatched the fish, and then retreated back into the cocoon.

“It looks a bit like an eagle? But why don’t I know what this thing is?”

Gui Ling continued to tap the cocoon and casually touched it.

“By the way, since you could come out just now, you should be able to reveal your true form, right?”

“…”

“At least respond to me.”

“…”

“Sigh, alright…”

Meanwhile, Yveltal…

Although he was in Kalos, he came here after hearing about this place. It was more suitable for Dark-type Pokémon to survive and was also an excellent place to sleep.

He had been sleeping here for almost a year when, suddenly, without realizing it, he was caught in a Poké Ball. He thought he wouldn’t be affected by the Poké Ball, but it actually succeeded in catching him…

Yveltal originally intended to kill the human who caught him, but he found that this person didn’t seem to recognize him. Most importantly, he even gave him fish to eat, which made Yveltal temporarily abandon the idea.

In the following days, Gui Ling thought of a new method: searching the surroundings for the corpses of other Trainers. They would surely have many Poké Balls on them.

After all, this place was full of dangers; maybe there really would be some.

Sure enough, on the fifth day, he found a skeleton and obtained three Poké Balls, as well as several damaged ones from which the caught Pokémon had likely escaped. However, this already made Gui Ling very happy; after being in this world for so long, he finally had something good happen.

These past few days, his three meals a day were fish. Because Yveltal had stayed in this river for a period, generally no Pokémon approached it, and only some ordinary fish swam around.

Of course, each time he would give fish to this unknown cocoon in front of him. After all, it was following him now, from three fish a day to six, then to nine…

The long-term feeding not only allowed Yveltal to sleep comfortably but also kept him full. This completely dispelled his idea of killing the Trainer in front of him. Why bother when someone provides food daily while he can just laze around? He wasn't that foolish.
