Chapter 103: What about the second uncle?

“Da Biao Ge!” the young man beside him shouted at Li Yu.

Li Yu looked at the young man, feeling a bit familiar, as Li Yu had been reborn for five years, and those difficult five years had made him forget many people and things.

As if sensing Li Yu’s confusion, the young man said, “Da Biao Ge, I’m Xiao Chi!”

A string of memories flooded his mind, and Li Yu remembered: this adolescent boy in front of him was none other than his Second Uncle’s eldest son, Xiao Chi!

At 14, he was developing very quickly, so it was no wonder Li Yu didn't recognize him immediately. Plus, Li Yu had been reborn for five years, making his impression even more blurred.

Li Yu nodded at Xiao Chi, then said, “Where’s Second Uncle? And Second Aunt and the others?”

Xiao Chi’s expression suddenly changed, and his mood instantly became low. The Second Aunt next to them also pulled away from the joy of their reunion.

Li Yu’s heart sank, and a bad feeling surged within him.

Xiao Chi slowly began, “When my dad came back, to protect us, he was stabbed in the chest by someone. There’s no anti-inflammatory medicine, no doctor, and he’s unconscious now.”

Upon hearing this, Li Yu immediately breathed a sigh of relief. Anti-inflammatory medicine, he had plenty. A doctor, his younger sister was studying medicine! So he quickly said, “Where is he now? Take me there immediately!”

Xiao Chi nodded at his words. “We live over there.” He pointed in the direction of Liberation City and continued, “When we returned to the city, we originally planned to come directly to find you.

But my dad’s injuries were severe, and he couldn’t travel further. We couldn’t find a place to stay for a while, so we thought about temporarily joining here and then going to find you when he got better.

Unexpectedly, things have gotten worse and worse. Thankfully, we finally saw you.” Saying this, Xiao Chi wiped away his tears with a firm hand, his heart settling down.

Li Yu looked towards Liberation City, where Director Zhang and Captain Lü were still watching. Originally, Director Zhang and his group had intended to leave, but seeing Li Yu suddenly stop his car, they also stopped and observed.

Li Yu walked forward, patted Xiao Chi’s shoulder, and then motioned for the two to get into the car.

The Second Aunt tried to pick up the backpack on the ground. Seeing this, Li Yu grabbed the backpack, his body leaning forward slightly. What was inside this thing? It was so heavy.

He felt very uncomfortable; this weight was a bit heavy even for him, a strong and robust adult man, let alone the Second Aunt.

The Second Aunt stood there, then suddenly, she turned her head to look at the short-haired woman, ran a few steps over, and said, “Team Leader Feng, I, I’ll be leaving first.”

The short-haired woman looked at Li Yu, then withdrew her gaze and looked at the Second Aunt, nodding.

After the Second Aunt finished her instructions, she walked towards the car. Li Yu and the others also got back inside the car.

Driving, they soon arrived at the main entrance of Liberation City.

Director Zhang watched Li Yu and the others return, his heart feeling a bit uneasy. Why had this group come back again?

But just now, he had also seen Li Yu pick up two people in the car, and those two seemed to be from their side.

Could it be?

Before Director Zhang could finish his guess, Li Yu quickly got out of the car, then walked to the entrance and said to Director Zhang, “I have some family members inside. Please let me in to pick them up.”

Director Zhang suddenly understood. Captain Lü next to him also somewhat understood. Seeing the Second Aunt next to Li Yu, Director Zhang and Captain Lü exchanged glances and nodded secretly.

There was nothing they could do; the other side had 6 submachine guns and 5 crossbows! They couldn’t win!

He waved his hand, and then the two men beside him opened the large gate.

Li Yu had everyone get out of the car, then closed the car door. Then he thought for a moment and had Ding Jiu’s group leave two people to watch the car. The others followed him into Liberation City.

Director Zhang said with a smile, “It seems we are still fated. I also saved your family. See, isn’t this fate?”

Upon hearing this, the Second Aunt’s expression subtly changed. However, Xiao Chi next to her also seemed to recall something. He, who used to speak faster than he thought, had changed after this period of the apocalypse.

Xiao Chi weighed things in his mind, then looked at Li Yu and his group, and then at Captain Lü and his group. He absolutely wouldn’t speak, at least not now.

Li Yu saw the Second Aunt’s reaction and remained noncommittal to Director Zhang’s words.

The Second Aunt led the way, passing two milk-white houses that looked very luxurious. However, the further they went, the more dilapidated the houses became.

Perhaps because the further they went, the closer they were to the river, and during the heavy rains in the apocalypse, these houses near the river were likely submerged, so the mottled appearance of the walls became increasingly pronounced.

Walking all the way to the last row, the house on the far right, Li Yu felt a pang of sadness and anger, but this anger, he didn't know who to direct it at!

The black-spotted tiles had some water seeping out. Even if wiped clean, water would quickly seep out again, so they simply stopped wiping them.

This house had no lights, so it looked exceptionally dim, but one could vaguely see the walls peeling, revealing the red bricks underneath.

A strong musty smell permeated the air, as if something had rotted, and within the musty smell, there was also some damp moisture.

Li Yu frowned. Although the environment was harsh, he had already made a judgment in his heart: in this apocalypse, for those who weren’t strong enough, having a place to live was already good.

As they slowly approached, a faint, almost inaudible weeping sound came from inside.

The Second Aunt quickly walked forward, and Li Yu hurriedly followed her.

Director Zhang, who was following behind them, had a grim expression. He had clearly said it would be fair and just, and there were so many houses, so why were they still made to live here?

But Li Yu wasn’t concerned about that now. He pulled out his flashlight, turned it on, and Li Hang behind him also turned on his flashlight.

In this dark room, even with the windows open, the sunlight from outside could barely penetrate. But now, as the flashlights were turned on, the entire room was instantly filled with brightness.

Li Yu approached and saw Second Uncle lying on a dilapidated bed. Second Uncle’s eyes were tightly closed, his forehead covered in sweat, and his chest below was bandaged with a piece of cloth.

And beside him sat Second Aunt.

At this moment, Second Aunt noticed the sudden light around her, quickly turned her head, and saw a large group of people approaching her. Her face was still filled with fear, unease, and tears that she hadn’t had time to wipe away, which also told everyone where the crying sound had come from earlier.

It seemed that because the room had always been dim, the sudden light now made her eyes sting. She raised her hand to block the light but also wanted to clearly see who the people opposite were. So she peeked through her fingers at everyone.

Seeing her action, Li Yu quickly shone the light on the ground, then called out, “Second Aunt, I’m Xiao Yu.”

The light shone on the ground, reflecting through the brightness. Second Aunt finally saw the familiar face and then saw Li Hang following behind. In an instant, tears streamed down her face. Her lips trembled, but she couldn’t make any sound. She tried to stand up, attempting twice without success.

Li Yu’s heart felt an even stronger pang of sorrow.
