Chapter 119: Howling ghosts and howling wolves

"No way! Sir Lance, are we really going to camp in a place like this?" Jesse Ava nervously wrapped the blanket tightly around him. It was still a little cold in early spring for the goblins. At this time, Jesse Ava stared nervously at the soldiers who were camping in an orderly manner and couldn't help asking.

Goblins, who are short and weak, obviously have much poorer resistance to nature. They usually live in underground cities and rarely live in open areas, because even wild beasts are enough to cause trouble for them.

"Of course, there is no cave nearby that can accommodate more than a hundred people. At least it is dry here, and we can camp there after cleaning it up." Lance shrugged helplessly.

"The conditions are limited. A temporary camp is certainly not as comfortable and safe as living in a city, but with the rangers keeping watch, we should be able to get through it safely." Lance saw Jesseava's nervousness and spoke to comfort her. As for why the heavy cavalry were not allowed to keep watch, their eyesight... forget it. They would probably have to touch the ground to notice.

"Okay, guys, speed up! Set up the fence first! Then set up the tent quickly! It's getting late, and I don't want everyone shivering in the night wind!" Lance clapped his hands and urged.

"Okay, sir!" everyone responded.

"Crackle~" Dozens of red bonfires lit up, and the temperature of the flames instantly warmed everyone's bodies and dispelled the coldness of the night.

"Thump, thump, thump!" A dozen or so Lordaeron rangers tiptoed onto the nearby treetops. They hid their bodies in the shadows of the branches, and their figures were almost invisible from under the trees.

"Okay! Your Highness Jesseava, you can rest assured. By the way, your tent is over there." Lance smiled kindly and pointed to a separate small tent.

"Um... okay." Jesse Ava looked at Lance worriedly before leaving, looking back every step of the way.

"Huh!" Lance let out a long breath. He suddenly felt that this goblin king was more difficult to serve than a child.

"Be alert and protect our supplies. We can't go too far without them! Don't let anything else take advantage of the situation. Remember to exchange shifts with the rangers on guard." Lance said solemnly, looking at the dozen or so carts in the temporary camp.

"Okay, sir!" a ranger nodded in response.

"Awooo~" A series of ghostly howling sounds were heard, which sounded particularly creepy in the dark forest.

"Woo, woo, woo! What's that sound..." Jesse Ava huddled in the tent, buried his whole body in the quilt, shivering and helplessly enduring the ghosts' screams and wolves' howling outside, but this weird and harsh sound could not be blocked by the tent and quilt at all.

"What the hell is that!" Lance was also startled by the noise. He jumped out of bed, picked up his sword and rushed out.

"Sir! It looks like a pack of ghost wolves..." A ranger from Lordaeron grabbed a branch and swung down.

"What? Ghost wolves? This is difficult... Although they are just low-level monsters, their number is too large! Pay attention to defense! All rangers should climb the nearest trees for defense, take good care of the horses, and all cavalry should wear armor! Form a defense formation within the campfire range!" Lance was stunned for a moment and then reacted. He gave orders while observing the situation around him.

"Damn it! Can't they even let me sleep well?" Lance thought viciously. He hated these monsters that disturbed his sleep so much that his teeth were itching. If there was one in front of him now, my baron would definitely chop it to death with a knife.

"Hold your spears tight! Hold your shields tight! Don't panic! They are just a bunch of beasts! Don't be timid!" Lance said in a deep voice after hearing the sound of armor colliding among the surrounding cavalrymen due to nervousness.

You have to know that the current heavy cavalry are just ordinary humans who have not yet awakened extraordinary powers. Ordinary humans are always at a disadvantage when facing ferocious monsters. Although the thick plate chain armor can withstand most of the fatal damage, there is still a possibility of injury. Therefore, when facing the attack of monsters, it is best to maintain a neat lineup and be on high alert, so as to minimize the losses.

"500 meters to the east! They are coming!" The Lordaeron ranger on the treetop was the first to discover the wolves moving quickly in the distance.

At this moment, a group of giant wolves with green fur and a nearly three-meter-long streak on their backs extending to their heads were quickly crossing the trees and moving towards the camp.

"Multiple Arrows!" All the rangers of Lordaeron quickly raised their longbows, their fighting spirit flowing from their fingertips onto the bowstrings, and a crystal-clear arrow quietly condensed...

"Bang!" The bowstring trembled, and the arrow flew across the sky at a high speed. In an instant, one arrow split into three arrows, and a total of 150 crystal-clear arrows of fighting energy flew towards the wolf pack.

"Ao~uh!"

“Woo woo!”

"Await~"

A few ghost wolves were shot to the ground, and many ghost wolves that were not hit in the vital parts were still rolling and struggling on the ground, and their wailing sounds were unexpectedly creepy.

"Damn it! They activated their innate skills! They are ghosts!" The Lordaeron Ranger, who was standing high and seeing far, shouted quickly as his pupils shrank!

Ghost: Immune to physical damage!

"Damn it!" Lance's heart sank instantly when he saw that the Lordaeron Ranger's attack was not effective and suddenly heard this bad news that couldn't be worse. You know, these Lagran heavy cavalry don't have anything like fighting spirit.

"All cavalrymen, listen up! Drop your guns! Light the torches in an orderly manner!" Lance suddenly had an idea. Fire is not just physical damage!

"Whoosh~" At once, rows of heavy cavalrymen lit the torches they carried with them.

"Prepare to resist the impact!" Lance held a shield in one hand and a sword in the other, and the dazzling flame of fighting spirit flickered on the sword edge.

"Kill!" At the moment when the ghost wolves were about to pounce, Lance shot out, and the long sword in his hand swung out a cold and smooth arc, chopping down the two ghost wolves on the head with lightning speed.

"Boom!"

"Bang!"

The burning torches fiercely smashed into the shadowy ghost wolves. Instantly, the ghost wolves, burned by the flames, immediately broke free from their ghostly state. They stared at the neatly arrayed heavy cavalry with wide eyes and bared teeth. No! At this moment, they should be heavy infantry.

"Hold the guns! Kill them!" Lance roared angrily. How can you live well if you don't let us sleep in the middle of the night?

"Roar~" Several clever ghost wolves were preparing to attack them from behind.

"Bang!" Several fine steel feather arrows shot out accurately, piercing through the ghost wolf's skull in an instant and nailing into the ground.

Lance gave a thumbs up at the treetops in the distance, believing that with the excellent eyesight of the Lordaeron Ranger, he could still see clearly.

"Send half of the men forward in a spear formation!" Lance gave the order after looking at the remaining thirty or so ghost wolves in front of him.

"Tiger! Tiger! Tiger!" The Lagran heavy cavalry lined up in a row and shouted in unison, forcing the ghost wolves to retreat.

Every time they retreated a distance, one or more ghost wolves were shot to the ground. The Lordaeron Rangers with shooting range were the protagonists of this killing...

"Done, sir! A total of 67 ghost wolves! The magic crystals are all here!" A Lordaeron ranger with beast blood still stained on his body respectfully handed Lance a small bag. Although these ghost wolves are not small in size, the magic crystals are only the size of longan.
