Chapter 17: Bard the Dragon Slayer

In the early morning, after last night's revelry, the Dwarf King Thorin Oakenshield set out with the expedition team amid the cheers of the people of Lake-town. Kili was left behind due to injury, and Fili and the other man stayed to take care of the injured Kili. As for Bofur... the poor child missed the boat because he was drunk... The Dwarves' Lonely Mountain expedition was about to reach its destination.

"Sir, Changhu Town is just ahead. What should we do?" Renault was undecided.

"Let's see what happens!" Roland was unsure.

"If they resist... then we'll annihilate the resistance!" Roland thought for a moment before speaking with difficulty.

"...As you wish, my Majesty..." Renault was stunned for a moment, then spoke with relief. At this moment, they finally and completely acknowledged Roland as their king and their majesty, because Roland finally became decisive and ruthless, and he was supported by his people.

The early morning mist sent the dwarves away and welcomed Roland. Taking advantage of the cover of the mist, everyone quietly rowed the boat to the outskirts of the town.

"Go!" A cold light flashed in Kaslo's eyes.

The planks fell down and the agile Badaniyan archers jumped down. They gave up using longbows and instead drew out their long swords and placed them on their arm shields to quickly occupy the nearby wooden buildings. At this moment, the nearby residents still didn't understand what was going on, and were even a little confused when the long swords were placed on their necks.

"Who...who...are...you...you?" an old man asked tremblingly.

"We? We are warriors from hell!" Renault, who was leading his warhorse down, answered with a smile when he heard this.

"We will fight for the king!" Renault murmured to himself.

"Hurry up! Get off the boat quickly!" Renault commanded everyone to get off the boat quickly.

Finally, they got off the boat before the town guards could react. Roland waved his hand and put the boat away. After all, it would be useful in the future, and it would be a luxury to throw it to Smaug as firewood.

"Find someone to lead the way, let's go to the town hall!" Roland was very organized. He was familiar with the plot and knew that the mayor and his lackey Alford were not good people. If he wanted to take over Changhu Town, he had to get rid of the mayor and his group of people who were in the way.

"Ha!" Several Swift Infantrymen formed a shield formation and surrounded the guards who rushed over after hearing the news. Several more Swift Infantrymen behind them placed their lances on the shields of the people in front of them, pointing the spears at the bewildered guards.

Just ask them if they are "touched"? They dare not move. These guards don't know where to put their long guns. They can only panic and turn around with their guns, but they are constantly forced back by the barricades.

"Swish!" Roland drew out the Dragon Slaying Sword, and golden light flowed on the blade. Roland lightly flicked the sword, and a pleasant crisp sound came out.

"So, gentlemen? Where is your mayor?" Roland showed a devilish smile.

"Boom!" The shield wall slammed heavily on the square in front of the mayor's hall, and the wooden boards underneath made a breaking sound under the heavy weight.

The guards who had heard the news gathered in front of the mayor's door. They had never seen battle before, and they pointed their weapons at Roland and his group in panic. Their trembling hands and shaking legs showed their panic.

After all, no one could remain calm under the aim of 200 bows and arrows. Although the knights' targets were not very accurate, they could at least use strong bows. If they couldn't hit the people, Roland could go back and break all their bows.

"So, do you want war or peace?" Roland asked casually, raising his sword.

"What are you going to do?" The mayor led Alford out of the door tremblingly, then put his hands on his hips and asked sternly.

"How's your rule? Don't you have any idea of what's going on?" Roland asked curiously. He was powerless to complain about someone so shameless.

"I am the legitimate ruler of Changhu Town, and I am the mayor here. You outsiders have no right to interfere!" The mayor said with difficulty.

"Huh? Could it be that these soldiers and trainee soldiers in front of you gave you the confidence?" Roland looked at the people who were tightly protecting the mayor.

"Then are you willing to be buried with him?" Roland walked over the wall of people and pointed at the panicked guards with his sword. These were just ordinary people wearing armor. It would be a disgrace to the nobles to embarrass them.

"I'll give you a chance. Lay down your weapons now and you can return home safely. Otherwise..." Roland smiled. The knights and archers behind him all burst into brilliant battle aura. Roland and Kaslo's battle auras reached three feet high, while Renault's was even more terrifying, soaring to four feet...

"Ding-ling-dang~" The sound of weapons falling to the ground was heard.

"Knight... Sergeant..." Someone was so scared that his hands and feet were cold.

"Boom~" The crowd immediately scattered like birds and beasts. Everyone regretted that their parents did not give them two more legs, and they all ran so fast.

"Okay, now that there are no civilians getting in the way, my honorable mayor, I heard that under your rule, the people have been oppressed. I heard that they want to make some changes. Do you still plan to suppress them?" Roland pretended to be surprised.

"No...no..." the mayor said at a loss.

"Hey! Isn't this Aford? What's wrong with you? Stop shaking your legs." Roland said with a smile.

"Forget it, forget it, just kill them all, what a bore..." Looking at the trembling mayor and his gang, Roland waved his hands in boredom, not showing any toughness at all. He thought they were going to resist.

"Boom!" A Holy Sword Judgment, the Paladin's signature skill, descended from the sky, creating several piles of charcoal before smashing through the wooden planks. The remains of several people fell directly into the water and disappeared...

"My goodness, the ashes were scattered?" Roland looked at Renault in surprise. This move was really amazing.

"Are you Bard?" Roland looked at the tough-looking man in front of him.

"Yes, I wonder what brings you here from afar?" Bud said warily, looking at Renault behind him.

"My name is Roland." Roland introduced himself.

"Sharpshooter Bard! Descendant of Girion, the last king of Dale? I'm curious about how you ended up becoming a fisherman and hunter." Roland joked with a smile as he looked at the two little girls, Tilda and Sigrid, who were cowering in fear behind the pillars.

"The legacy of our ancestors is but a passing cloud. We are living a happy life now." Bud turned his head and looked at his family behind him.

"I just killed the mayor and his minions here. Do you have any suggestions?" Roland asked tentatively.

"What about the ordinary guards?" Bud was obviously more concerned about the civilians.

"You are indeed worthy of being a descendant of the nobility and a qualified lord." Roland praised.

"No, no, no, I'm just an ordinary citizen now..." Bud waved his hand to stop him.

"But you will eventually be crowned king." Roland looked at him and said this meaningfully.

As for why Roland said this, it was because he had just taken a look around. Honestly, the situation here was far different from what he had imagined. The people looked pale, and the population was sparse. And that wasn't even counting the fires of Smaug's Winter and the persecution of the orcs during the Battle of Five Armies... So Roland decided to put the blame on Bard. It wouldn't be bad to let him become the King of Dale, as history had shown. Bard was a true man of loyalty, and having him as a neighbor meant they could help each other. As for Roland himself, he said that with the system, anyone couldn't just build a city and become a lord. What was the point of targeting Lake-town? Smaug was going to come and destroy it that night, and Roland didn't think he could stop him from Lake-town. Even with Kaslo and his dragons, it wouldn't be enough. After all, Smaug, the North Wind, might be a flying dragon that could breathe, but its size and resistance were no different from a dragon. How desperate would he be to mess with it? It was better to leave it to Bard, the dragon slayer. He wouldn't participate.

"Orc!" screamed the alert Badaniyan archer, and then shot an arrow to send the discovered orc into the sky.

"Alert!" The police in the town shouted.

"Elf?" Kaslo asked in surprise when he saw Legolas fighting with the orcs.

"Oh! Fili! Kili!" Roland heard the noise and quickly remembered the orcs' night attack, so he ran to Bard's house. However, because Bard was not put in jail... Oh, it was too tragic. Just think of the orc warriors who faced King Bard and Tao Lier... Even the capitalists would feel distressed when seeing their miserable appearance.

"Um, are you okay? Hi, dwarf guys, it's great to see you again!" Roland greeted everyone with a smile.

"By the way, Bard, you have to clean up. We can't stay here anymore..." Roland, who had just finished looting, remembered that Smaug would come to clean the floor and bring warmth in the evening.

"The dwarves have entered Lonely Mountain! You know the consequences!" Roland said after thinking for a while as he pulled Bard out of the house.

"I need you to command the people to evacuate Lake Town and head to Dale under the Lonely Mountain... Otherwise, Smaug will burn them like candles! You know clearly that the dragon is about to awaken!" Roland said seriously.

"What about you?" Bud asked Roland with narrowed eyes.

"I will go and settle my army, and my archers will stay to stop Smaug!" Roland paused.

"Remember to come back... I believe your ancestor shot Smaug! You still need to settle your grudge!" As they walked, Roland suddenly turned around and said this to Dobbard with a smile.

"Renault, lead the knights and infantrymen to leave! The archers stay behind to do sniping, and Kaslo, you follow me!" Roland summoned his men and made arrangements.

"Sir, let me stay!" Renault said anxiously.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of the team. Caslo and I have platinum armor. The platinum and the magic patterns on it will help us block the dragon's breath. The archers of Badaniia are very skilled. Smaug can't hurt us. Don't worry!" Roland patted Renault.

"The war has begun..." Roland sighed as he looked at the residents who were persuaded to leave by Bard or driven out by the soldiers. Will Changhu Town be destroyed by war in the end?

"Hi! Roland, I'm back!" Bard arranged for his family and the dwarves to leave and turned back to the town.

"Oh, by the way, we can take out the Black Arrow now. This may be one of the few weapons we have that can slay dragons." Roland was quite curious about what the Black Arrow looked like.

In fact, the star silver steel armor-piercing arrows carried by Badania archers can also penetrate dragon skin, but their length is too short, and the remaining force after entering the dragon's body is not enough to penetrate the vital points.

"Wow! So long? I've learned something new! I would have believed you if you said it was a spear!" Roland couldn't help but exclaimed in admiration as he took the black arrow from Bard.

"Look at Lonely Mountain!" Bard, who was chatting with Roland, suddenly pointed to the distance.

In the darkness of the night, a fiery cloud appeared on the Lonely Mountain. Unfortunately, it was not the glow of the sunset, but the breath of Smaug the dragon...

"The dragon is coming." Roland narrowed his eyes.
