Chapter 7: [7] Thorn sea beast, the killing begins

Faint rays of light fell, reflecting on the shimmering sea surface where Thorn Sea Beasts rose and fell. The scenery of the evening sunset indeed held a captivating charm!

However, the sky began to darken.

It wasn’t darkness in the conventional sense, but one influenced by a strong particle energy fluctuation.

Wang Ya withdrew from his meditation state, a hint of alarm flashing across his face. This overwhelming particle energy meant someone was casting a Wizardry.

Outside the window, a darkness like viscous black mud swallowed the light, spreading from the depths of the seabed, enveloping the Wizard Ship.

Wang Ya's pupils contracted. The hundred-meter safety zone had also been engulfed.

“Gurgle, gurgle!” Harak let out a trembling sound in the room, its blood-red pupils showing instinctive apprehension.

Through the consciousness imprint, Wang Ya knew that Harak had sensed the threat from the darkness. Compared to ordinary creatures, it was like a cat bristling or a dog baring its teeth—a natural reaction.

Wang Ya sealed all the doors and windows, and at the same time, used various heavy objects in the room to barricade them.

In the boundless Endless Sea, nowhere could truly be called safe.

Choosing to stay inside the room at least offered more possibilities due to the confined space.

Wang Ya glanced at the round window. If there was no other way, he would grab some food and have Harak fly him out.

This was part of his consideration when he first chose to cultivate Harak, to compensate for his lack of mobility.

Relying entirely on others to ensure his safety was extremely foolish.

Stroking Harak's nape to calm its somewhat agitated state, Wang Ya's eyes gleamed. Mastering Transcendent power was his greatest source of confidence.

Strength would not deceive or betray him.

“Those two idiots, it seems they live on this floor.”

Arthur wore a brilliant smile. If Luo Weina hadn't suddenly brought it up, he probably would have forgotten their existence.

After all, how could a noble like him spare memory for two low-level Wizard Newcomers?

“Thanks to you, Luo Weina. I remember they received at least half a month's worth of food, or even more, that day. With that, we can last quite a bit longer.”

Ossen happily patted Luo Weina's shoulder, though the latter's smile wasn't as natural.

He even felt awkward. He had only instinctively thought of it and mentioned it casually, with no real intention of taking their food. At least, that's what Luo Weina himself believed.

The few people in the ship's corridor suddenly paused. They exchanged glances, their expressions filled with horror. There was no mistaking it—a powerful particle energy fluctuation, so powerful it was like an abyss.

Unbeknownst to them, the lights in the corridor flickered on and off. The more distant areas were already enveloped by darkness, like a giant dark maw, making one's hair stand on end.

“What's going on... and that fluctuation just now?” Luo Weina's mouth hung open.

Arthur and Ossen remained silent, their eyes fixed on the darkness. It seemed alive, slowly spreading towards them.

A strange, oppressive atmosphere permeated the air, and they instinctively held their breath.

Drip!

Arthur touched his cheek, his pupils instantly shrinking. Blinding crimson—it was blood!

A salty sea breeze blew from the far end, messing up their hair and making their robes flutter backward. They instinctively took a step back.

A heavy scent of blood permeated the air, and at the same time, a human head with a distorted face rolled out from the darkness.

They were almost suffocating. It was a Wizard Newcomer, and the head's injuries looked as if something had bitten it off.

Intense fear stimulated their trembling legs, making them unable to react.

Damn it!!

What on earth was happening?

Drip!

A limb stained with seaweed and mud stepped out, covered in black scales. Seawater mixed with blood dripped from the scales. When its entire body emerged from the darkness, its massive form, filling the entire corridor, was incredibly horrifying.

An amphibious creature of the Endless Sea—the Thorn Sea Beast. Its entire body was covered in scales that were difficult to damage with knives or swords, and Thorn-like bone spikes.

However, the Thorn Sea Beast that appeared before the three was two to three times the size of a normal Thorn Sea Beast, and its scales were not the original blue.

Most importantly, they detected Transcendent fluctuations from the Thorn Sea Beast.

The Sea Atlas clearly recorded that Thorn Sea Beasts were merely ordinary creatures.

“This is insane.” Ossen's gaze stiffly fixed on another Thorn Sea Beast that appeared behind them.

A door not far ahead was violently destroyed, and a Wizard Newcomer was dragged out by a Thorn Sea Beast, its neck bitten off, and the beast began to feast.

This seemed to be a chain reaction. Doors in room after room were broken open, and more sounds of Thorn Sea Beasts emerged. Their low growls made the three still standing in the corridor's scalp tingle.

It was conceivable that the same thing was happening on every floor.

Right now, it wasn't about finding food, but about how to survive. A Thorn Sea Beast blocked the path behind them, and more Thorn Sea Beasts emerged from ahead.

Arthur's eyes turned ruthless. Without a moment's hesitation, he kicked Luo Weina forward, while he violently pushed Ossen backward.

“Arthur, you bastard, you actually...”

“Brother Arthur, why would you do this?”

Losing their balance, the two, under Arthur's great force, inevitably fell towards the Thorn Sea Beast, looking at Arthur with disbelief.

“I want to live. My talent is the highest, and my status is the highest. Your deaths can allow me to live, which is right, it is an honor.”

Arthur simultaneously rushed towards Ossen's direction, preparing to seize the opportunity to escape when that Thorn Sea Beast attacked Ossen.

“Ah!”

A piercing scream echoed throughout the entire ship's cabin, followed by more screams. Wang Ya, inside his room, had a grim expression. He had sensed the various commotions.

So far, there had been at least twelve screams.

This meant at least twelve Wizard Newcomers had already died.

He didn't know what kind of entity was attacking the Newcomers in the ship's cabin, but his room was temporarily safe.

Harak's eyes showed apprehension, its wings raised, staring towards the door.

Wang Ya frowned. Something was coming.

He held a dagger in his hand, hidden in the shadows behind the door, his eyes cold.

【Alert: Within a five-meter detection range, an unknown creature is approaching. Analysis in progress. Analysis successful.】

【Target: Thorn Sea Beast (Mutated)】

【Details: This is a sea beast that exists in certain quantities in the Endless Sea, belonging to the top of the ordinary food chain. Influenced and modified by Transcendent means, its body has undergone mutation, possessing partial Transcendent characteristics.】

【Characteristics: Solid Scales, Transcendent Breath, Bone Spikes】

It wasn't a true Transcendent Creature yet, so he had the ability to deal with it.

Wang Ya's eyes lit up, gaining a bit more confidence.

‘It’s here!’
