Chapter 99: Trial Smoke

The Harbor area was vast, and Li Lu had only been there once two years ago, so she couldn't recall the exact location.

After searching for half an hour, Li Lu pointed at two huge rectangular buildings and said, “It's here, the Harbor warehouses manufactured by Bowu.”

This was already the edge of the Harbor district, far from where they had encountered the Interceptor earlier, and they hadn't seen any other Mutants on their flight there.

When they took action later, they just needed to be a little careful and try not to use explosive weapons.

The White Egret Drone made almost no sound when flying.

After circling the outside of the warehouse, Feng Jun finalized the combat plan.

As a company with a close relationship to the Imperial Royal Family, Bowu Manufacturing naturally did its best to perfect the construction of its warehouses.

The warehouses were over forty meters high and over two hundred meters long, with a five-meter-high wall built around their perimeter.

The exterior of both warehouses was in excellent condition with no signs of damage, and even the surrounding wall remained intact.

However, the gates of the wall were open, allowing Zombies to pour into the warehouse compound.

But the wall at the gate was still intact; as long as they cleared the Zombies inside the compound and closed the gate, Feng Jun could temporarily secure a relatively safe environment, as the vicinity was mostly filled with ordinary Zombies, with even evolved Mutants being rare.

At this moment, the Zombie horde on the ground had already discovered the descending White Egret, and some had been drawn over, gathering beneath the UAV and piling up.

“Begin the operation,” Feng Jun ordered.

Three UAVs scattered, and one aerosol smoke grenade after another had their safety pins pulled and were dropped.

The Zombies followed closely behind the White Egret, attracted by the sound of the gas sprayed by the smoke grenades, and all gathered there.

The warehouse compound was very large, and Feng Jun dropped about twenty smoke grenades in total across the two warehouses.

Soon, Feng Jun realized he had been a bit wasteful; the blue smoke slowly spread out, quickly enveloping both warehouses, and even spilling over the wall, drifting outwards from the warehouse perimeter.

Even after spreading twenty meters beyond the warehouses, there was no sign of it dissipating, though its diffusion speed had slowed considerably.

This spread was much better than Feng Jun had anticipated, and now they just needed to wait for the effect to take hold.

Yan Xin had instructed him before leaving that the aerosol spray would remain in the air for exponentially longer, and while it would take a few minutes longer to take effect, it would not affect its lethal efficacy against Zombies in the slightest.

There were no Zombies on the warehouse roof, so Feng Jun ordered the White Egret to land there.

Now, they just needed to wait a few minutes to see the effect.

They hadn't brought many people this time, only ten Imperial Guard members and Li Lu.

For equipment, they only carried four light Power Armors; the rest of the people wore mechanical exoskeletons because the White Egret's load capacity was limited.

The Imperial Guard began setting up firing points on the warehouse roof and deploying small UAVs for perimeter security.

Li Lu also followed Feng Jun out of the UAV.

This time, she had also brought the giant hammer she had obtained from the Ape-man last time.

Since using it in the Zombie Tide defense battle last time, Li Lu had fallen in love with this giant hammer.

Later, she had Yan Xin upgrade it, slightly reducing the hammerhead's area and installing a larger fusion battery on it.

When it struck a target, it could instantly release five thousand watts of electricity, directly incinerating most Zombies; even if it didn't kill them, they would be pulverized by the immense brute force.

Li Lu had even given the heavy hammer a name: 'Electro-Hammer.'

Standing on the edge, Li Lu looked down; the thick smoke obscured her vision, making it impossible to see the situation of the Zombies below.

“Are you sure this thing works? I haven't heard any Zombie wails,” Li Lu said.

“Do these guys even have pain receptors? Why would they wail?” Feng Jun said.

“And one more thing, you'd best put on a Power Armor; it's safer that way.”

Feng Jun pointed to a set of Power Armor nearby, which he had specifically left for Li Lu at his instruction.

Li Lu seemed unimpressed, single-handedly lifting the Electro-Hammer and swinging it back and forth in the air a few times, so fast that it produced a tearing sound.

“You're worried I'll be a burden? My evolution level has risen again, you know.

Who will be protecting whom later is still up in the air.”

Feng Jun was a bit helpless; Li Lu was so old yet still so competitive.

He could only say, “If I encounter something I can't beat, I can run away at any time, but you can't.

Besides, I'm worried about you.

Listen to me and put it on quickly.”

After a few words of persuasion, Li Lu reluctantly put on the Power Armor.

Although it was only a light Power Armor, its protection was much better than a mechanical exoskeleton.

At this point, the corpse-suppressing smoke had begun to take effect.

The Zombies' muscle tissues began to melt into black viscous liquid, and the melting speed rapidly increased.

Some Zombies fell to the ground after losing their support, and the melting viscous liquid still contained components of Anti-corpse liquid, so subsequent Zombies falling into it would continue to be corrupted.

At this time, near the Harbor slightly further away, precisely where Feng Jun had encountered the Interceptor, another team of UAV White Egret Drones arrived.

This team of White Egret Drones numbered six, but they were not Feng Jun's reinforcements; instead, they came from Huaicheng District, and the leader was none other than Feng Jun's old acquaintance, Chen Jianbin.

After Feng Jun seized Iron Nail Town, Chen Jianbin had been constantly wandering.

It was fortunate that he had always had the habit of saving money, always liking to hide some valuables in secret locations.

After escaping through the sewers, Chen Jianbin went to several of his hidden treasure spots.

Relying on the helium crystal and some firearms he had accumulated, he began to gather a few people again and started a slave trafficking business.

Originally, Chen Jianbin wouldn't have dared to go back and trouble Feng Jun even with ten thousand guts, but he met his benefactor, 'Fang Xinglong.'

During a transaction with the Blood Bell Gang, Chen Jianbin saw Fang Xinglong, at first only from a distance.

Compared to the five magnates of Huaicheng District, a small fry like himself wouldn't even be given a second glance, even if he still controlled Iron Nail Town.

But Fang Xinglong recognized him and called him into his office for a talk.

Chen Jianbin originally thought Fang Xinglong was going to double-cross him and discard him after use, but he didn't expect the other party to offer him an olive branch.

“I'll provide the money, you provide the people.

Find a way to take down Feng Jun; I want to obtain the secret of his food source.”

These were Fang Xinglong's instructions to Chen Jianbin.

Although Chen Jianbin was greedy and treacherous, he also understood that the other party was completely using him as a pawn.

However, upon seeing Fang Xinglong's terrifying muscles and the two three-meter-tall biochemical soldiers standing beside him, he knew he had no choice.
