Chapter 4: The wolf king came into contact with Qi for the first time. What kind of power is this?

Axis’s breathing gradually quickened, but his eyes grew even more fervent, burning with endless battle intent.

The Saiyan bloodline boiled within him, and each attack carried a wild power, as if he wanted to completely tear his opponent apart.

However, Leman Russ remained unhurried; his movements seemed casual, yet he could always precisely block every one of Axis’s attacks, as if he were impregnable.

“Your attacks are too straightforward; they lack variation,” Leman Russ said calmly as he easily blocked Axis’s fist, his voice tranquil but carrying an undeniable authority.

Axis gritted his teeth, suddenly took a step back, his body sinking slightly, hands clenched into fists, then he leaped up, his body spinning rapidly in the air, his legs kicking continuously like a whirlwind towards Leman Russ’s head and chest.

“Whirlwind Kicks!” Axis roared, his offensive pouring down like a torrential storm.

A hint of approval flashed in Leman Russ’s eyes, but he still didn’t move an inch.

His hands danced like phantoms, precisely catching every one of Axis’s kicks.

The moment fists and feet collided, muffled thuds erupted in the air, and the ice beneath their feet constantly shattered, sending ice shards flying.

“Not bad, this is getting interesting,” Leman Russ smiled slightly, then suddenly raised his hand and struck Axis’s chest with a palm.

Axis’s pupils contracted, and he quickly crossed his arms to block in front of his chest, but that force still sent him flying backward, sliding dozens of meters on the ice before he barely managed to regain his balance.

His arms were slightly numb, and his chest felt a dull ache, but he grinned.

He had underestimated this adoptive father; his combat awareness and experience were terrifyingly high!

“Again!” Axis shouted excitedly, charging forward once more.

This time, his attacks became more flexible and varied; he no longer blindly charged but began to try feints and fakes.

First, he pretended to punch directly at Leman Russ’s chest, but at the last moment, he suddenly changed his move, sweeping a kick across towards his opponent’s ankle.

A hint of surprise flashed in Leman Russ’s eyes, but he still easily dodged the attack, leaping lightly, his body tracing a graceful arc in the air before landing steadily.

“Haha, my Little Wolf Cub has improved, but it’s still not enough,” Leman Russ laughed, then suddenly struck with a hand chop directly at Axis’s shoulder.

A sharp pain shot through his shoulder; Axis grunted, his body involuntarily retreating a few steps, panting heavily.

“Combat is not just a contest of strength, but also a competition of skill and wisdom; you must never be careless!” Leman Russ said slowly.

“Your strength is already powerful enough, but your fighting style is too singular.

Lacking variation and strategy, you need to observe your opponent instead of just blindly attacking,” Leman Russ began to instruct Axis.

However, for his age, he was indeed crushing all his peers, but in terms of combat talent, he was still a bit behind him.

When Leman Russ was the same age as Axis, his raw strength might not have been as good as his opponent's, but Leman Russ could perfectly mimic others' combat movements just by watching them once.

Then he would optimize the moves, even calculate all of the opponent's subsequent moves, anticipating the opponent's next step, or even dozens of steps.

And all of this, he could think out in his brain in just a few seconds, then his body would execute it perfectly.

In just a dozen minutes of their exchange, he had already figured out all of Axis's attack patterns.

He could even completely predict all of Axis's attacks and any moves he might use.

“You brat, if you think I’m just a wild brute, then you’re gravely mistaken; my wisdom is unparalleled on this planet too.”

Axis took a deep breath and nodded.

Leman Russ was right; he indeed had much to learn, so he adjusted his breathing and once again assumed a fighting stance.

Their battle resumed, and the ice plain echoed with the muffled thuds of fists and feet colliding and the sound of ice shattering.

Axis’s attacks became more flexible and varied; he began to try different combat techniques, sometimes attacking fiercely, sometimes maneuvering, and sometimes using feints to lure his opponent.

And Leman Russ remained composed throughout; the Wolf King’s every counterattack was precise and powerful, as if he were guiding Axis step by step to break through his own limits.

Ice shards and snowflakes danced in the air, and their figures moved rapidly across the ice plain, like two intertwined bolts of lightning.

However, after a few rounds, he was once again knocked to the ground by Leman Russ.

“I pretty much know your level now; let’s stop here for today!” Leman Russ said, stretching his wrist.

Although it was only a few tens of minutes of sparring, he already understood how strong this kid was.

Among the entire tribe, no one was his opponent except himself; this kid must have come from the same place as him, otherwise, it would be impossible for him to be so strong.

“Don’t get cocky, I haven’t gone all out yet!” Axis roared, his eyes burning with unyielding battle intent.

A white light ignited from Axis’s body; he had been sent to a planet as a low-level warrior before, and on that planet, besides fighting with the natives, he had been practicing this move.

This was a classic move from the Dragon Ball World! Although he didn’t know the trick, all he had to do was strike a pose and gather all the ki in his body to unleash it.

Axis’s hands quickly came together, palms facing each other, fingertips slightly bent, forming a classic Kamehameha starting stance.

His body sank slightly, his feet planted firmly on the ice, and the ice layer beneath his feet emitted faint cracking sounds.

A white light surged from within him, swirling around his body like burning flames, then rapidly converging into his palms.

“Kamehameha—Wave!” Axis roared, his voice filled with immense confidence and battle intent.

As his voice fell, the white light in his palms suddenly erupted, forming a dazzling beam of light that shot directly towards Leman Russ with destructive power.

Wherever the light beam passed, the ice was instantly vaporized, and a scorching aura permeated the air, as if even space itself was being torn apart by this power.

Leman Russ’s pupils suddenly contracted; he had never seen such a method of attack.

The energy contained within that light beam made him feel a hint of danger, but he still didn’t panic.

His body rapidly retreated, his feet carving two deep furrows in the ice, while he crossed his hands in front of his chest, attempting to directly withstand the blow with his formidable physique.

“Boom—!”

The light beam slammed heavily into Leman Russ’s arms, erupting in a deafening roar.

The ice beneath Leman Russ’s feet instantly collapsed, and his body was pushed backward dozens of meters by the tremendous impact, ice shards and snowflakes flying in the air, like an ice and snow storm.

Leman Russ’s arms were slightly numb, and a hint of shock flashed in his eyes; he looked down at his arms and found that there was actually a trace of charring on his skin.

“What kind of power is this?” Leman Russ murmured, his tone filled with disbelief.

He had fought all the terrifying monsters on this planet, and not once had he been injured; this was the first time in many years that he had been injured in battle, and by a young child at that!

Axis panted heavily, his forehead already covered in sweat.

His arms trembled slightly; that last attack had consumed a large amount of his stamina, and just one blow had depleted all the ki in his body.

“This is the power of ‘ki’!” Axis grinned, a hint of pride in his voice.

Although this adoptive father was a mutant of a native planetary race, with ridiculously high combat power, he couldn’t use the power of ki.

When he unleashed his ki, his attack power could instantly soar to four or five hundred; the fact that this adoptive father could completely withstand it meant his physical quality was absurdly strong!

He had tried his best to overestimate this mutated combat body, but he still underestimated him a bit.

Leman Russ slowly lowered his hands, a complex expression flashing in his eyes.

He had never heard of “ki” as a power, but the might of that last attack forced him to confront this unknown energy; if this kid’s power had been a bit stronger, he could have severely injured, or even killed him.

Taking a deep breath, Leman Russ adjusted his breathing, then looked up at Axis.

“Little Wolf Cub, I will teach you how to truly control your power, but you must first tell me, what exactly is this ‘ki’ power?”

Leman Russ had developed a strong interest in this mysterious power of “ki.”

“No problem, I’ll teach you. Everyone has ki inside them,” Axis said.
