Chapter 5: Unable to learn Qi? The power belongs only to one person

Axis and Leman Russ sat cross-legged on a massive snow-capped mountain, breathing steadily, their hands resting on their knees, eyes closed. Axis attempted to guide Leman Russ to sense the “Ki” within his body.

“Ki is the most fundamental energy within living beings. It exists in every cell, and with cultivation or training, you can gradually perceive and control it. Try to feel it carefully; you should be able to,” Axis said slowly.

This foster father’s combat power was as high as 1700. With a little guidance from him, he should be able to easily master the power of Ki.

“Alright, what exactly should I do?” Leman Russ nodded.

“You must first calm your mind, feel the flow within your body, find the source of that energy, and then try to make it circulate within your body,” Axis said.

Leman Russ frowned, trying hard to follow Axis’s instructions. He closed his eyes, attempting to concentrate and feel the changes within his body.

However, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't perceive the “Ki” that Axis spoke of, as if there was absolutely nothing of the sort within his body.

Strange, why couldn’t he feel it at all?

Leman Russ, not quite believing it, tried again, but still felt nothing. The Ki that Axis spoke of seemed not to exist.

“My Little Wolf Cub, I can’t feel the Ki you’re talking about. Your ‘Ki’ is as elusive as air to me; I can’t feel any of its power,” Leman Russ said, opening his eyes.

Axis opened his eyes and looked at Leman Russ with a hint of helplessness. There was no reason for this!

During their recent battle, Axis had already discovered that this foster father was clearly a super combat genius.

No matter what moves he used, he could resolve them with the most perfect technique. This wasn't just something that combat experience could achieve, because, apart from himself, it seemed no one on this planet could spar with him.

His foster father was not only a combat power mutant but also a genius warrior.

A combat genius like him should be able to easily master Ki with a little guidance.

Vegeta, also a genius warrior, was able to successfully comprehend the power of Ki after just one battle with the Dragon Ball Z warriors on Earth.

With Axis’s guidance, there was no reason why Leman Russ couldn’t comprehend it!

“Forget it, my Little Wolf Cub, there’s no rush for this. This thing called Ki probably can’t be understood overnight.

I’ll train with you from now on, and you can slowly teach me this special power!” Wolf King Leman Russ stood up and said.

Leman Russ was quite confident in his combat talent and brain processing ability.

If this power could truly be acquired through learning, then by cultivating with his foster son, he would surely be able to master it gradually.

“Alright, there’s no rush for this either! Let’s practice more; you’ll learn it as we fight,” Axis nodded and said.

In the following days, apart from eating and sleeping, Axis would run to this wilderness to spar with Leman Russ.

After their combat training was complete, the two would go to the mountaintop, where Axis would begin to teach Leman Russ how to sense the power of Ki.

Leman Russ had no clue about using Ki; he couldn't even perceive its existence.

Axis said this was a power every living being possessed, but to him, it seemed not to be the case. This power seemed to belong exclusively to Axis, a power unique to him.

Axis was a bit anxious, even using his own Ki to infuse Leman Russ’s body to guide him, helping Leman Russ comprehend and perceive the power of Ki.

But strangely, his Ki could exist in Leman Russ’s body for a while, but like rootless water, it couldn’t last. In just a dozen seconds, the power of Ki Axis injected into Leman Russ’s body would dissipate into nothingness.

Leman Russ could clearly sense this power, but he just couldn’t grasp it. His body seemed to instinctively be unable to accept this kind of thing.

How could this be! Could it be that the people of this planet simply cannot learn Ki?

But that’s not right! According to the Dragon Ball worldview, as long as you are a living being, you should possess Ki, right?

Axis, not believing it, conducted another experiment, selecting tribal warriors with combat power over 10 points. He then taught them the power of Ki, even using his own Ki to guide them.

The tribal warriors learned very seriously and worked very hard. But just like Leman Russ, they also couldn’t comprehend the power of Ki.

For a full half year, no matter how Axis taught, no matter how hard Leman Russ and the tribal warriors tried to learn, they just couldn’t master the power of Ki.

Until finally, everyone gave up on learning this Ki power.

“Give up, my Little Wolf Cub. It seems this power belongs exclusively to you, and others simply cannot learn it,” Leman Russ said, patting Axis’s shoulder.

He was now absolutely certain that this power called Ki belonged to the Little Wolf Cub, and others simply couldn't learn it, as if it were an innate power of his.

“It’s really too strange! Logically speaking, the power of Ki should be possessed by every living being,” Axis said, stroking his chin.

“It seems I can’t control this power, but we haven’t gained nothing. At least your combat power has increased quite a bit,” Leman Russ said.

Over the past half year, Axis’s combat power had directly soared by 350 points, reaching a total combat power of 500 points.

Because he frequently practiced using Ki, Axis developed the Sky Dance technique, becoming even more adept at using Ki.

“It seems you won’t be able to master this power in a short time, Russ. I think there’s something wrong with this planet itself,” Axis said.

Having been on this planet for a year and a half, Axis had gained a better understanding of it. This was a very strange planet.

Everywhere, there were traces of colonization. When Axis learned the Sky Dance technique and flew in the sky,

he had once discovered remnants of obvious mechanical constructs. They looked like they had been abandoned for many years but were unusually advanced, clearly signs of an interstellar civilization.

Moreover, one year on this frozen planet was equivalent to more than three Earth years, a full 40 months.

Yet, their calendar system was calculated by 365 days, and each month was standardized at 30 days, which was how people calculated their age.

It wasn’t calculated according to the planet’s age, but rather 365 days per year, which was completely the Earth’s calendar system.

This Fenris planet had a very strong Earth flavor.
