Chapter 27: Wind Release Ninjutsu Training

Feng Zheng's first question was:

“Why is Wind Clone only a Rank E Ninjutsu?”

After reading the scroll, he understood the reason.

Wind Clone is extremely simple. Elemental clones, like regular clones, are simply made of elements.

This is why they can launch attacks. They are dispersed when hit.

Because the materials required for Wind Clone are basically the surrounding air, it is extremely simple to create.

However, it is still very useful, and something he would definitely learn.

He continued to read the rest of the Ninjutsu to understand their effects.

He first finished reading all the Rank E Ninjutsu. After reading them, he analyzed:

“These Ninjutsu aren't very powerful. Compared to other Ninjutsu, they aren't very useful in combat. Instead, I think they are just a means to improve Wind Release control. They might be very important for me to learn more complex and powerful Wind Release Ninjutsu in the future.”

Wind Levitation basically uses wind to lift inanimate objects into the air. The weight of the object that can be levitated, the height it can be levitated to, and the duration of levitation depend on the user's control over the Wind Release, as well as their stamina and concentration.

Projectile Control Technique uses wind to control projectiles launched around the user. Thus, Shuriken, or thrown kunai or Senbon, can be manipulated by wind to change direction.

Wind Stealing Technique uses wind to pull objects towards the user. It is similar to Nagato's Summoning Technique: Universal Pull, except it is done with the help of wind, and the power depends entirely on the user.

Gale Technique simply creates a faint current of wind in one direction. It doesn't cause any damage, but it has some benefits. For example, it can be used to cover up any footsteps left behind, or to change the direction of the wind around you to limit how far your scent can spread. Furthermore, it is probably the foundation for all Wind Release Ninjutsu that involve blowing air.

After finishing his analysis, he sighed and thought to himself:

“I must learn all these Ninjutsu. Not for combat, but to improve my control over wind.”

That being said, Wind Clone, Wind Levitation, Wind Control, Wind Stealing Technique—these are all excellent prank Ninjutsu!

Feng Zheng wondered if the person who created these Ninjutsu was someone who enjoyed pranks.

As he thought, an extremely wicked idea suddenly popped into Feng Zheng's mind.

This idea would turn the lives of Konoha villagers into a living nightmare! He thought.

“I wonder what Naruto would do if he knew these five Ninjutsu! He's terrible as a student, and as a Ninja, but he's definitely Rank S when it comes to pranks. Damn, I really want to teach him these things! I could laugh for a lifetime!”

Feng Zheng laughed at the thought.

He calmed down a little later, put aside distracting thoughts, and began reading the Rank D scrolls.

After reading them all, he came to a realization:

“Holy crap, Wind Release Ninjutsu is amazing!”

This thought wasn't because the Ninjutsu themselves were overly powerful, but because of the growth potential of Wind Release Ninjutsu.

Some of these Ninjutsu, if mastered and used correctly, could eventually become as good as Rank B or even Rank A Ninjutsu.

He then proceeded to analyze each Ninjutsu.

Dust Cloud Technique is basically a smoke bomb. It should be suitable for Feng Zheng as a Sensor Ninja who doesn't need sight to track enemies. And it's simple, so it's worth learning if he has time.

Wind Scythe Technique was used by Temari in the Chunin Exams. Although powerful, it requires the use of a fan. This is not a weapon Feng Zheng likes. So he might skip this one.

Breakthrough Technique is a weaker version of Great Breakthrough Technique. There's no harm in learning it.

Feng Zheng thought he could replace it with Wind Release: Great Breakthrough Technique later, and also add Wind Release: Pressure Damage to his training list.

Gale Surge is a defensive Ninjutsu. The user sends the surrounding air outwards. It can protect the user from projectiles and also disrupt the enemy's rhythm. But its range is very short, only 3 meters.

Wind Push Technique is a movement Ninjutsu. Small gusts of wind are released from the hands to aid in evasion.

Well, this Ninjutsu is also simple. Feng Zheng didn't like it much, but he had some ideas for the future that might require this Ninjutsu as a foundation.

Wind Blast Technique seems very versatile. Chakra is infused into the wind, forming a sphere like the Rasengan, which explodes upon impact. Although its power is not as great as the Rasengan, and it only causes minor damage, it is a very interesting Ninjutsu.

Feng Zheng wondered if this Ninjutsu and Wind Clone Technique could be combined. This could make Wind Clones extremely lethal.

After analyzing all the Ninjutsu, he had to make the difficult final decision on which ones to learn. He thought:

“All these Ninjutsu have good uses. But can I learn them all?”

He fell into deep thought.

Unable to make up his mind, he decided to calm down first and analyze further:

“As for how many of these Ninjutsu I can learn, it depends on how quickly I learn them. And merely learning them is meaningless. I need to master them. For now, let's eliminate the ones I don't want to learn. Wind Scythe Technique.”

He sighed.

“This is the only one I don't want to learn. I want to learn all the others! Hmm, I'll list them in order of importance. Rank E Ninjutsu are very important for being able to better control Wind Release. So they are mandatory.”

Among the remaining Ninjutsu, considering future potential, Wind Blast Technique might be the most useful.

Next is Wind Push Technique. Although not outstanding on its own, if Feng Zheng can later freely create small wind blasts around his body to propel himself, it might become a deadly fighting style.

Breakthrough Technique is next, as it forms the basis for some more powerful Ninjutsu. And it also provides an AoE effect.

Gale Surge and Dust Cloud Technique are left to learn last.

Gale Surge can provide defense in one direction, but this defense is very brief. And Dust Cloud Technique merely provides cover.

Feng Zheng thought, let's settle on these for now. He still had a few years before he might need to participate in combat.

Feng Zheng hoped to learn these Ninjutsu within a year. Because next year he wanted to learn some Earth Release Ninjutsu, and perhaps one or two Genjutsu.

He also wanted to start learning swordsmanship this year. Perhaps one or two swords that could work very well with Wind Release.

Ending his thoughts, he carefully read Wind Release: Wind Clone Technique thoroughly.

With the basics done, he left the Library and went to a secluded small forest to begin his training.

However, what happened truly surprised him.

He was able to perform Wind Clone Technique after only one attempt! He was speechless at the simplicity of this Ninjutsu.

After calming down, he analyzed:

“This Ninjutsu is very similar to the regular Clone Technique, and I've already learned Shadow Clone. Furthermore, my Chakra is Wind Release, and I've already mastered this element through extensive training. So it's not surprising that I was able to learn it on my first try.”

In fact, compared to Itachi, this achievement is not worth mentioning at all.

He was able to perform a Rank C Ninjutsu—Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique—on his first try. So this shouldn't be a big deal.
