Chapter 5: Peers

Li Su observed the convoy with binoculars, and in turn, was spotted by the people in the convoy.

After seeing that everyone in the convoy was armed through his binoculars, Li Su immediately wanted to flee.

He had experimented after getting his gun; his eyes simply couldn't track the bullets' movement.

While his Perception Domain could see them, his body couldn't react in time.

If someone ambushed him from behind while he wasn't paying attention, he would most likely not be able to react.

The convoy slowly decelerated.

Li Su didn't run; instead, he prepared to make contact with them because he recognized it as the Redford convoy.

These people weren't vicious criminals; if they didn't attack him upon meeting, they probably wouldn't ambush him either.

Most importantly, Alice would be joining them soon.

Li Su wanted to try if he could capture Alice, seal her into his storage space, and keep her as a collectible.

After seeing people collecting antiques, he had this idea of collecting something different.

The storage space was a treasure that could seal time and space; using it as a display cabinet for collectibles was perfectly fine.

Even museums collected mummies, so his collecting a person wouldn't seem strange.

He put on a backpack and then took out a large bag, tying it to the back seat of his motorcycle; inside were some expired food and canned goods.

He didn't plan to eat these things.

He disguised himself as a post-apocalyptic survivor, someone who could barely use firearms.

Li Su prepared a sharpshooter identity for himself; with firearms combined with his abilities, he could dominate everything within a thousand-meter range.

He took out the key and started the motorcycle; by following them, he could see Alice.

Alice also possessed Mind Power, and Li Su planned to learn from her about using Mind Power.

Starting the motorcycle with a bit of unfamiliarity, Li Su soon caught up with the convoy ahead.

The Redford convoy was constantly searching for surviving humans; as long as you were a healthy, normal person, they would accept you.

Li Su's initiative to join was met without any issues, and he was even welcomed by everyone, meeting each person individually.

The next morning, Li Su emerged from a tent, walked behind a sand dune, and took out his toiletries to begin his routine.

This area was a desert, so water resources were extremely scarce.

Most people used yellow sand to wash dishes and clean their bodies; Li Su tried it yesterday, and the experience was not worth mentioning.

Li Su, emerging from behind the sand dune, had faint dark circles under his eyes; his roommate was a young Black man.

He had slept alone for over 20 years, and suddenly being squeezed in with others made him very uncomfortable.

He simply couldn't rest well and was considering whether to just leave.

Carlos, holding a gun, passed by Li Su and asked curiously, "How did you sleep last night?"

Li Su pointed to his dark circles and said, "What do you think! It's mainly that I'm not used to sleeping with others."

Carlos whispered, "Danny is very interested in you; you can go find her tonight."

Li Su saw that the other person was serious and not joking, so he deliberately changed the subject, "Any situations during the night watch?"

"No situations, everything's safe," Carlos replied, rubbing his temples, "I'm going to get some rest, brother, good luck."

Li Su slowly returned to the camp; most people in the camp were already awake.

Most were taking care of personal hygiene; besides brushing teeth, most skin cleaning was done with yellow sand.

A White man called everyone to line up for food, and Li Su joined the queue.

As the price of joining the convoy, all of Li Su's food was contributed for communal distribution.

Li Su quickly received his breakfast, a can of beans, which was as simple as the food he had prepared.

He found a downwind spot, away from the crowd, as his dining area.

He was new and unfamiliar with everyone, so eating alone in the distance wouldn't seem out of place.

Li Su frowned slightly, looking at the can in his hand; it was not only expired but also a product of the zombie world.

His small body probably couldn't handle it, so he decided not to make things difficult for himself.

He scooped up a spoonful of food, completely enveloped the spoon with Mind Power, and sent it into his mouth; the beans disappeared, replaced by the zhajiangmian mixed rice he had made himself.

Li Su had recently developed a Mind Power shield; the shield could not only defend but also isolate air.

The Mind Power shield's strength was not high; he put a shield on a cup.

He fired a pistol at the cup; although the cup didn't break, the shield was gone.

The shield's defense could only block one ordinary pistol bullet, and it had to be actively activated to work.

Li Su was extremely vulnerable when he slept, and he planned to develop this ability into a 24-hour active state.

However, he couldn't do it yet; he could only achieve it later when his Mind Power strength increased or he became more proficient.

Li Su ate and watched the beautiful women; these foreigners were rarely seen in his hometown.

He also waited silently, because if nothing unexpected happened, then something unexpected would happen.

During the midday break, a flock of zombie crows appeared, and just as everyone was about to be wiped out.

Alice would appear, using a widespread fire to eliminate all the crows and save everyone.

Li Su was very curious about how she managed that scene; was it creating fire from nothing or controlling the burning of fuel?

If it was creating fire from nothing, Li Su could learn her special technique; with his Mind Power strength and endurance.

He could completely use Mind Power to control fire; although it wasn't very useful, it was cool.

Li Su's Mind Power wasn't like Alice's, which would wilt after a single use.

A Black woman finished her breakfast, looked in Li Su's direction, licked her lips, and murmured, "I wonder what Asian men feel like."

Danny walked over to the corner, sat down next to Li Su, and casually put her arm around his shoulder.

"Living alone for so long, aren't you lonely? Do you need my help?"

Li Su pushed her hand away, "You're too dark; I prefer fairer skin."

Danny showed no embarrassment, casually pointed to a beautiful woman, "Like that one?"

A Gold-haired woman happened to look over, walked forward, and asked, "Danny, what's up?"

Danny looked at Li Su with ill intent, wanting to see his embarrassed expression.

Li Su threw away the can in his hand, took out a tissue to wipe his mouth, and looked at Danny's strange gaze.

He said, puzzled, "It's the apocalypse now; throwing trash around shouldn't be criticized, right?"

Danny got up, whispered a few words into the Gold-haired woman's ear, then they both laughed, giving him meaningful looks.

Li Su didn't have time to chat with them; he walked into a group of children, took out a handful of candy, and said, "I like to hear stories; can anyone satisfy me?"

"The reward is what's in my hand," he set his persona as a sharpshooter who liked children.

Li Su didn't want to get close to these adults; after all, they were not only foreigners.

They had also experienced the apocalypse, struggling to live for several years in it.

They had absolutely no common topics, and most importantly, he didn't like foreigners.

After resting for a while, he joined everyone in doing some physical labor to maintain the camp.

After finishing, it was time for the midday break.

Rejecting the two women's invitation to chat, Li Su slipped into the car containing the flamethrower.

With the shield activated to isolate the smell inside the car, Li Su sat in the back seat, listening to the two people in front chat.

The White man said with some displeasure, "We're discussing some private matters; could you please excuse us?"

Li Su thought for a moment and said, "Could I ask the two of you to take a nap first?" After saying that, he activated his Mind Power to knock them out.

The two slumped onto their seats, and Li Su scratched his head, muttering to himself, "Did I use too much force?"
